Thursday, Sept. 7th Thursday Live! at the Davis Odd Fellows Hall: Summer of Love anniversary show!
We’re celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love on September 7th. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall, 415 Second St. in downtown Davis. The show is free. Donations are encouraged to help local needy kids have a summer of lovely, local activities.
An all-star collection of Davis musicians will play some iconic songs of the 1967 San Francisco music scene complete with light show and lava lamps. If you are a fan of Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Moby Grape, It’s A Beautiful Day, Youngbloods, Buffalo Springfield, Doors, Hendrix, Byrds, Cream, Neil Young, and Country Joe and the Fish, you should come to the Odd Fellows Lodge (bell-bottoms are permitted just this once!) and join in the celebration.
Janis Joplin once performed at the Davis Odd Fellows Hall around the time of the Summer of Love. Come, be a part of history and help resurrect the spirit of peace and love.
Thursday Live! is sponsored by the Davis Odd Fellows music committee with support from KDRT radio. Thursday Live! shows are appropriate for all ages.
Upcoming shows include The Rita Hosking Trio (Oct. 5th) and the Rowan Brothers (Nov. 2nd).
